Important Notice About Compounded Medications

Compounded tirzepatide is not FDA-approved. Compounded medications are prepared by licensed pharmacies to meet individual patient needs and are not reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness, or quality before dispensing.

Do Not Use Compounded Tirzepatide If You:

  • Have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC)
  • Have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2)
  • Have had a serious allergic reaction to tirzepatide or any of its ingredients

Before Taking Tirzepatide

Tell your healthcare provider if you:
  • Have a history of pancreatitis
  • Have kidney disease
  • Have gallbladder problems
  • Have severe gastrointestinal disease
  • Have diabetic retinopathy
  • Are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding
  • Take insulin or other diabetes medications

Common Side Effects

The most common side effects may include:
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation
  • Stomach pain
  • Decreased appetite
  • Injection site reactions
  • Fatigue

Serious Side Effects

Stop using tirzepatide and seek medical attention immediately if you experience:
  • Signs of pancreatitis (severe abdominal pain that may radiate to the back)
  • Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction
  • Severe dehydration
  • Severe or persistent vomiting
  • Symptoms of gallbladder disease
  • Signs of kidney problems

Additional Safety Information

  • Do not use with other tirzepatide-containing medications.
  • Do not use with other GLP-1 receptor agonists unless specifically directed by your provider.
  • Follow dosing instructions carefully. Improper dosing may increase the risk of serious side effects. FDA has reported adverse events associated with dosing errors involving compounded GLP-1 medications.
