  • Scalp irritation, redness, dryness, or itching
  • Flaking or scaling of the scalp
  • Temporary increased hair shedding during the first few weeks of treatment
  • Unwanted facial or body hair growth
  • Headache
  • Mild dizziness

Serious Side Effects

Stop using minoxidil and seek medical attention immediately if you experience:

  • Chest pain
  • Rapid or irregular heartbeat
  • Severe dizziness or fainting
  • Swelling of the hands, feet, face, or ankles
  • Sudden unexplained weight gain
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Signs of a serious allergic reaction, including rash, swelling, or difficulty breathing

Additional Safety Information

  • Use only as prescribed by your healthcare provider.
  • Apply only to the scalp unless otherwise directed by your provider.
  • Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, or other sensitive areas.
  • Wash hands thoroughly after application.
  • Hair growth results may take several months to become noticeable.
